Save the Date: CFR’s 2023 Gala Honoring Justice Visionaries
The Center for Family Representation’s 2023 Gala will be held on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Cipriani 25 Broadway.
We will be honoring justice visionaries Judge Michael Corriero, Professor Martin Guggenheim, and Professor Jane Spinak for their exceptional work supporting families and young people.
Judge Corriero was the executive director and founder of the New York Center for Juvenile Justice and served as a judge in the New York State courts for nearly three decades. His leadership and wisdom helped create the Youth Part in criminal court, where youth accused of serious crimes have a chance to be treated as the young people they are. Additionally, Judge Corriero’s steadfast dedication to the “Raise the Age” movement in New York State—finally realized in 2018—is making it possible for the justice system to treat children and young teenagers as children.
Professor Guggenheim is considered one of the nation’s foremost experts on children’s rights and family law. He is a retired professor for NYU School of Law, where he co-directed its Family Defense Clinic for five decades.
A renowned advocate for children’s welfare and youth justice, Professor Spinak is a retired Columbia Law School professor who co-founded the school’s clinics focused on representing families and children. She also directed the Adolescent Representation Clinic, which represents teenagers and young adults aging out of the foster system.
Professors Guggenheim and Spinak were part of the small group of people who founded CFR 21 years ago and currently serve on our Board of Directors.
